Ablation of Cardiac Arrhythmias
Cardiac arrhythmias are abnormal heart rhythm that can cause rapid heartbeats. This can sometimes lead to dizziness, ligtheadednedness or blacking out (syncope).
Most arrhythmias can be treated with medications. However, medications may be ineffective. Moreover, some patients may be reluctant to commit to lifelong use of medications due to the cost and side effects. The good news is that ablation can be used to treat majority of these arrhythmias, thus, obviating the need for medical treatments. The arrhythmias normally treated with ablation are the supraventricular tachycardias (SVT). Examples are:
- Atrial Flutter
- AV Nodal Reentrant Tachycardia
- AV Reentrant Tachycardia
- Atrial Tachycardia
- Wolff Parkinson White Syndrome (WPW)
At Southwestern Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute, as a cardiology clinic, we diagnose and treat patients with various types of arrhythmias. As a Cardiac Electrophysiology Clinic, we specialize in treating irregular heart beats, and are dedicated to helping our patients get the necessary care that they need for a healthy heart!
