Dr. Lookman Lawal completed his internship and residency training at Johns Hopkins University/Sinai Hospital, Baltimore, followed by fellowship training in cardiovascular disease at the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio. He then went on to complete his fellowship in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology at the University of Texas Southwestern School Of Medicine (UT Southwestern), Dallas. This was followed by a second year of rigorous advanced fellowship training in Electrophysiology, focusing on complex ablation therapies for arrhythmias, also at UT Southwestern, Dallas. He earned his Medical degree from College of Medicine, University of Ibadan.

Professional Experience

Dr Lawal’s expertise include complex ablation therapies for arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation (radiofrequency ablation and Cryoablation trained) and ventricular tachycardia, ablation of supraventricular tachycardia, cardiac resynchronization therapy, implantation, programming and trouble shooting of cardiac devices, including pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (transvenous and subcutaneous ICDs) and implantable loop recorders. Other services provided include Holter monitors, event monitors, tilt table test as well as comprehensive evaluation and management of syncope.

Dr Lawal has extensive interest in medical research. He is the author of several articles that have been published in reputable medical journals. He has also given several presentations, including poster presentations at various medical meetings. He is a member of several professional societies, including the Heart Rhythm Society, American College of Cardiology and American Medical Association. Dr Lawal’s philosophy is to provide every patient with compassionate and personalized care.

Dr. Lawal is also an assistant professor of Medicine at Paul L. Foster School of Medicine at Texas Tech University, with offices in El Paso, Las Cruces, Deming, & Alamogordo and proudly licensed in Texas and New Mexico.
